Leadership Team

Shel Silverberg, Co-founder and Executive Vice President, Analytics

Shel Silverberg is a thirty-five year veteran in health care marketing and information management, with a specific focus on the pharmaceutical segment. He is recognized within the industry for pioneering the application of electronic prescription transactions for use in target marketing and sales force deployment and compensation.

After a brief stint at IBM after college, Shel joined a small market research firm which was eventually to become IMS Health in the USA. He served various capacities starting as a market research analyst and leaving as Vice President, International Marketing.

He was recruited in 1978 by McKesson Corporation to start a new “data” company with its principal source of information being prescription claims from McKesson’s prescription benefit manager, PCS. Under Shel’s leadership Pharmaceutical Data Services (PDS) became the leading provider of electronic prescription data for physician profiling and sales force compensation. The products offered by PDS became an industry standard for evaluating the prescribing potential of individual physicians and determining the performance of sales representatives.

PDS was subsequently purchased and merged into an international market group owned by management and venture capitalists. During Shel’s tenure in the new venture he served various executive functions including President of the U.S. Division, Source Informatics. The company eventually spun off two of its divisions into public offerings raising more than $400 million. Shel orchestrated the sale of Source Informatics to NDC Health in 1998.

Following the sale to NDC, Shel left the company to join a new internet startup, Caresoft Inc, as Chief Marketing Officer. Two year’s later he was recruited back to NDC to run their international business from their London office.

For the past two years Shel has advised several companies in commercializing their data assets including Omnicare (the nation’s leading nursing home pharmacy provider), Medi-Promotions and Group Knobloch de Mexico.

Shel has a bachelor’s degree in Economics and Statistics from Temple University and has completed the Executive Program at the Tuck school at Dartmouth.

Shel has served on the national business board of the University of Arizona School of Pharmacy and Philadelphia College of Pharmacy. He has been a guest lecturer at the University of Arizona, Arizona State University and UCLA.

Shel has been married to his wife Paula for 38 years. They have two sons.
