Privacy Policy

Medicx Media Solutions is committed to protecting the privacy of consumers. This notice explains our technology and information-collection practices. Privacy Compliance

Zip+4 Aggregate Audience Data

Medicx Media Solutions does not collect any personally identifiable information (PII) from insurance claims. Medicx Media Solutions works with its third-party data providers to ensure that we adhere to the privacy guidelines created by HIPAA, the Direct Marketing Association (DMA) Privacy Promise, the Online Privacy Alliance, the Email Service Provider Consortium, the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) and the Network Advertising Initiative (NAI).

Information Collection

Medicx Media Solutions licenses non-identifiable anonymous data that is taken from health insurance claims that have been previously de-identified and HIPAA certified and combines it with other anonymous data that is mathematically modeled to create what is referred to as ‘aggregate audience data”. Aggregate audience data is modeled information within a Zip+4 that describes medical and treatment prevalence, usage patterns, and insurance coverage of users as a group but does not reveal the identity of particular users.

Usage of Data

This aggregate audience data will be used as statistical information to determine such things as the prevalence of a medical condition or treatment within a Zip+4 audience, usage patterns insurance coverage of that audience. Aggregate audience data may integrated with other third party data collected from you where you have previously opted into a program or service such as your IP address, email address, postal address, telephone number or demographics. The may also be provided or sold to third parties wishing to target advertisements. These targeted advertisements may be in the form of a display ad when you are online surfing the World Wide Web, an email or direct mail piece. Medicx Media Solutions may use this aggregate audience data to give potential business partners and advertsiers a picture of their target audiences.

Medicx Media Solutions uses the aggregate audience data it collects to help advertisers and agencies customize the advertisements that consumers see when reading mail (both postal and email), visiting or searching web sites, reading magazines and newspapers and viewing television and to analyze if the advertising resulted in a desired action such as sales. This is referred to as Geo-Medical TargetingTM. In order to target consumers with appropriate ads, Medicx Media Solutions assembles aggregate audience data by medical and treatment prevalence to create audience segments. An example of this usage is listed below:

  • A consumer visits a health content site on the Internet of one of our ad network or publisher partner sites where a “cookie” is stored on their computer. This data allows Medicx’s partners to code a “medical condition or treatment” segment into their anonymous cookies. This segmentation is anonymous and does not include any PII information about the consumer. The segment data would then be utilized to show an advertisement for a prescription or OTC drug, insurance plan, medical device or wellness program, for example, to the same user (based upon its Zip+4 location). Segment assignments may change over time as new claims data are collected and utilized or as users opt-in or opt-out of various online marketing programs.

Medicx Media Solutions media partners store all of our aggregated audience data in user cookies and not on any servers. These cookies have a lifetime of up to 1 year and can be blocked or deleted by users using the Opt Out methods described in their policies or the Medicx Media Opt-Out policy .

Disclosure of Information

Medicx Media Solutions only profiles aggregated audience data at a Zip+4 level based upon its value to an advertiser. We do not profile individuals or households in any manner that attempts to establish a direct link to their personal health information and we do not provide any personal (individual) information to marketers when they interact with a target. The user information that we collect to create segments and profile information for our service is based upon the entire universe (population) of each Zip+4 selected for an ad campaign. At the same time, our advertiser customers cannot correlate or merge any individual personal health information with information that they may collect, process, or store in connection with their site, including personal information except in compliance with such customer's privacy policy. PII may however be utilized by advertiser customers at a later time, as part of their customer relationship management (CRM) programs, for example.
